February is a terrific time for a mid-season style boost. By now we’re all staring into our closets, bored with the dark colors and heavy sweaters we’ve been wearing repeatedly for the last several months.

One way you can spice up the winter doldrums is to get the hell out of dodge. Some like to retreat to the beach, but for others, it’s a cozy mountain getaway that beckons.

In my series, Finding Your Style I have been helping you discover your personal style by exploring different style combinations. This month, I want to show you a very inspiring style archetype combination that I call CLASSIC + NATURAL.

How do you know if this style combination is for you? If you like wearing classic, tailored clothing, but you relate to words like “casual,” “comfortable," “minimal” and “easygoing,” perhaps you’d like to infuse your look with a few natural elements.

For a mountain getaway, I’ve planned out three outfits for a Classic + Natural archetype: a cozy daytime outfit, an après ski outfit (even if you don’t ski), and an “I’m going out to dinner” outfit.

If you are curious about all of the archetypes, check out this article.

Mountain Getaway: Daytime Cozy Outfit

I love this classic, natural look because it’s comfy and casual yet has a great amount of texture and interest. Perfect for a vacation spent in the mountains. This is not your typical oversized sweats in clashing colors.

The overarching feel of this outfit is simplicity and comfort. This is exactly what our natural fashion archetype is drawn to—the velour pants and top, the furry boots, the crewneck sweater, and the wool scarf.

What keeps this in the classic style is the coordinated pants and top, the plaid scarf, and the very classic striped long-sleeve t-shirt.

Mountain Getaway: Classic and Natural Après Ski Outfit

I love this weekend mountain getaway outfit because it’s comfy and casual yet has a great amount of interest.

The fleecy texture is great for the natural archetype as is the shearling lined boots, wool hat, and furry mittens.

Keeping colors simple and lines clean—white, black, neutral, and a pop of red—plus a pair of great leggings (which have now become a must-have staple) make up the traditional elements in this outfit.

Wear this look after a morning on the slopes or perusing the town, cozied up with a hot toddy next to the fire.

BLACK LONG SLEEVE: NORDSTROM ($29)

Mountain Getaway: Dinner Outfit

The thing about any style archetype combination is it’s all in the decisions you make to personalize your outfits through color, pattern, textures, etc. In the natural archetype, these decisions are imperative. Keeping it simple is key.

The classic fashion elements are the cardigan, the simple jewelry, the button-down shirt, and the denim jeans. But the choices of textures and fabrics are what give these items that natural twist—the leather cuffs, the chambray shirt, the leather boots, and the cotton scarf all make this outfit ooze with relaxed ease.

Regardless of if you spend your day being cozy or out in the elements, this classic + natural outfit is perfect for a yummy dinner out.
