It’s amazing how clothing that was once meant for the gym has now become a fashion trend so ubiquitous that it has its own style demarcation: Athleisure. At the center of it all? Joggers.
They’re loose pants with an elastic or drawstring waist and elastic ankle cuffs. You’ll find them in every material, and the style flexibility comes from the fabrication, the shape, and what you pair them with.
Just look around and you’ll see the difference between a chic, casual outfit and, well, a look that could only be described as haute disheveled. Want to embrace the former and avoid the latter? Heed these few simple style tips.
To keep it casual, choose roomy joggers in cotton, fleece, or cashmere, and pair them with a graphic tee, a draped sweater, or a utility jacket and sneakers.
Joggers done in dressier fabrics (leather, faux leather, wool gabardine, velvet, silk), can look plenty polished when paired with a pretty blouse or sweater, a blazer and booties (even heels).
