We’re going to go out on a limb and say you probably have a few swimsuits in the back of a drawer that is either old or faded or stretched out or never made you feel that great to begin with. You may even have a suit that checks all of the above (this is a safe space!).
Here’s an idea: How about you let this year be the year of getting it right—the right cut, color, and style? Let this year be the year you actually feel comfortable in the suit you’re wearing.
That means opting for good fabric, a bit of structure, pretty details, and a style that’s made for your body…which in turn means putting a little thought into what you really want the suit to do for you. Large breasts that need support? A mid-section you’d like to minimize? A little extra butt coverage? It’s out there for you.
We’ve rounded up our favorite one-piece options, and here’s our advice: Shop now, while stores still have inventory and while you still have time to find what you love before you take the plunge, say at the big July 4th weekend or that family reunion at the lake.Summer waits for no woman!
Get a suit that’s made with real, structural support. Look for cup liners, wider straps, and full coverage styles.
Look for small-scale, all-over prints (they’re camouflaging), diagonal lines (they lengthen and divert), ruching and shirring, and of course suits with added tummy control.
Look for suits that specify bottom coverage in their descriptions, opt for a skirted style, and use open (even plunging) necklines to draw attention to the upper body.
