We're a fashion site, so you would think that we'd be obsessed with trends and even more so the holy grail of the fall season. But fashion sites… can we all agree how un-relatable they are for women like us? Yep, we said it. That trendy, fast fashion, "it" bag, and keeping up with each season’s must-have item is just not our top dressing priority.
So why write an article on fall trends? We have one irrefutable reason: at its core, dressing is about having fun, promising to spark creativity and bringing you joy.
One of the most exciting ways to do that is to sprinkle in a handful of current, stylish pieces each season. Not just any pieces, but considered items that work with what you already have in your closet and invite you to explore your wardrobe through a fresh lens.
This fall - thanks to 90’s minimalism vibes and the updated cargo pant making the list - we expect the experimentation to be more accessible than ever since you probably already own some of what feels current!
Each new season brings the opportunity to let go of that which no longer serves us and make space for the new, both sartorially and in life. It’s a message of simplicity, is it not? Our goal at Six to Sunday is to support exactly that, so you can thoughtfully fill (some of) that newly created space with beautiful newness. And we promise that you won’t be needlessly tying up precious closet real estate here, because these are items you will reach for again and again.
In this three part series, we’re calling our top fall trends with our favorite interpretations for women like us.
Fashion is what you're offered four times a year by designers. And style is what you choose. —Lauren Hutton
90s minimalism is arguably the easiest to execute, given the incorporation of forever pieces that you are likely to already own (age for the win!). Here are our top three looks.
Boxy oxfords are like a best friend - perfect for “middle management”, and pairs well with almost any type of pants. To interpret the 90s trend, we recommend a loose tuck (full or French) with a pair of relaxed, straight or wide leg jeans, oversized bag, and sandals.
Six to Sunday Products Picks:
Blazers will always have the easiest to execute polish in our book, which is why we love them for women of a certain age. To avoid the conservative and lean into the current 90s look, keep the sleeves rolled, add a graphic tee, and pop on a closed or open-toe kitten heel (we trust you have at least one pair of these handy!). Throw on your favorite statement earrings, and voila!
Six to Sunday Product Picks:
Wide leg black pants are flattering on every shape and possible to find at any price point. In order to keep it balanced, try a classic or slim fitting tucked-in white tee shirt. If you are feeling up for it, give it adornment with clean and thin gold hoops and a chunky flat or heeled sandal to finish the look.
