It’s amazing how one little extra detail can make all the difference.
Case in point: When a classic T-shirt or button-down benefits from a twist or tie front detail.
The result makes a basic top become so much more. And, best of all, the center “knot” effortlessly camouflages any belly bulge you may prefer to keep under wraps and also creates a slightly nipped waist. Win-win!
We’re mad for this style and like them in almost every fabrication we’ve seen.
Curious how to pull this off? Without further ado:
I.N.C. International Concepts. The V-neckline is slimming and shows just the right amount of skin, while the banded hem is super flattering on the hips.
Talbots. A slightly longer, more classic T-shirt, with a subtle knot for those who don’t want to go all in.
Lululemon. A casual cotton T-shirt style to wear every day with added style oomph from the twist front.
Lauren Ralph Lauren. Summer weight cotton with more comfort thanks to a bit of added stretch. We adore the button front and collar combo for extra polish. Wear with or without a blazer.
Eloquii. A tie-front trifecta: pretty, polished, and slimming.
Lauren Ralph Lauren. We love this longer length—almost a tunic style—and the wide, short sleeves stand away from the upper arm which is slimming (any arm looks smaller in a wider opening!). Perfect if you are looking for more polish. Available in standard, petite, and plus sizes.
English Factory. A modern take on an Oxford button-down that is super forgiving on the hips and provides tush coverage. This shirt pairs great with jeans or black pants and can be dressed up or down.
Eloquii. The chambray is soft and supple, and the tie front creates a beautiful turnip hem in the front.
Karen Kane. The blouson sleeves amp up the style, and the mandarin collar is super modern. In summer-weight linen, this is a winner.
Joe’s Jeans. A modern take on an oxford button down, great with jeans and black pants, and can be dressed up or down.
